The competition entry proposes a 21st century park in the Dynon Valley – a new Melbourne precinct. It has grown from the concept of the landscape as the foundation for urbanism, built on an integrated place based approach to natural systems – water, energy, flora and fauna habitat – and recognises that humans share this place with many other living things.
Greening the railway spine from Richmond to Footscray provides a missing link connecting Melbourne to the Yarra River, Moonee Ponds Creek and the Maribyrnong River. The link creates green spaces with beneficial local and regional impacts and creates a new precinct for Melbourne: the Dynon Valley.
