Heirisson Island Bridge

CM+ won this prestigious open international bridge tender, in competition with twenty-five leading design and engineering practices from around the world.

The sophisticated asymmetrical suspension bridge curves out over the Swan River connecting Fraser Park to the future Heirisson Island Sculpture Park being developed by the City of Perth.

CM+ developed the design as lead consultant in association with Cardno, in a specialist multidisciplinary team. The bridge’s unique structural solution was conceptualised as a part of the Australian megafauna philosophy, and part of a cultural response to the site’s location at the city centre and in an ecologically and culturally sensitive riparian environment.

Detailed design will commence once funding is secured.
