The Nepean River Green Bridge is a new pedestrian and cycle bridge that elegantly spans the Nepean River, connecting Emu Plains and Penrith at the base of the Blue Mountains.
The double pylon, steel cable stay and concrete bridge connects Link Road and Ferry Road in a flowing, organic composition that rises gently at the centre responding to the river’s rowing course beneath. The lightweight, shared path bridge with provision for pedestrians, cyclists and the disabled, compliments the backdrop of the Blue Mountains escarpment, and the adjacent Victoria Bridge. It is conceived as a dynamic form in the Nepean River landscape and forms a landmark structure for the City of Penrith.
