Western Section of M12 Motorway Opens, Connecting Western Sydney to New Airport

M12 Motorway

CM+ is proud to celebrate the official opening of the first section of the M12 Motorway, extending between Elizabeth Drive and The Northern Road delivered in partnership with Transport for NSW, the CPB Contractors and Georgiou Joint Venture, WSP in Australia, Hassell, GHD, and the wider project team. The central and eastern sections, completing the connection through to the Westlink M7, are scheduled to open in mid‑2026.

Designed to serve as a key gateway to the new Western Sydney International (Nancy‑Bird Walton) Airport and the broader Aerotropolis precinct, the M12 Motorway is an essential addition to Sydney’s growing motorway network.

CM+, in association with CONTEXT are proud to be the urban and landscape designers for all project elements in this portion as well as the connection to the Western Sydney International Airport Interchange, Elizabeth Drive flyover, 11 bridges and the public domain design. Local Aboriginal and cultural heritage is celebrated throughout the project and we collaborated with BALARINJI to fully integrate Connection to Country design principles and artworks across the entire motorway corridor, from The Great Emu in the Sky, a 30 metre high steel sculpture at the airport entry to noise walls, bridges, and rest stops along the project’s active transport link route.
